Hypothetical my bottom!

Well, look at this little piece from the Irish Examiner
Speaking on RTÉ’s Liveline programme yesterday, Helen Lucy Burke, who interviewed Mr Norris for Magill magazine in January 2002, questioned his suitability for the presidency as a result of the "startling" views she said he expressed to her in the interview.

In the interview Mr Norris was quoted on his opinion on sexual activity in a historical context.

"In terms of Classic paedophilia, as practiced by the Greeks for example, where it is an older man introducing a younger man or boy to adult life, I think there can be something to be said for it. And in terms of North African experience this is endemic.

"Now again, this is not something that appeals to me, although when I was younger it would most certainly have appealed to me in the sense that I would have greatly relished the prospect of an older, attractive, mature man taking me under his wing, lovingly introducing me to sexual realities, and treating me with affection and teaching me about life — yes, I think that would be lovely; I would have enjoyed that."

He was also quoted on his views as to varying levels of seriousness of abuse.

"In my opinion, the teacher or Christian Brother who puts his hand into a boy’s pocket during a history lesson, that is one end of the spectrum. But then there is another, there is the person who attacks children of either sex, rapes them, brutalises them, and then murders them. But the way things are presented here it’s almost as if they were all exactly the same and I don’t think they are. And I have to tell you this — I think that the children in some instances are more damaged by the condemnation than by the actual experience."

In a statement, Mr Norris said the quotes were "misleading" and taken "out of context" in what was an academic conversation.

"During the course of a conversation, Ms Burke and I engaged an academic discussion about Classical Greece and sexual activity in a historical context; it was a hypothetical, intellectual conversation which should not have been seen as a considered representation of my views on some of the issues discussed over dinner.

"The article did contain other valid comments from me on human rights and equality issues but the references to sexual activity were what were emphasised and subsequently picked up and taken out of context in other media outlets.

"The presentation of references to sexuality in the article attributed to me were misleading in that they do not convey the context in which they were made. People should judge me on my record and actions as a public servant, over the last 35 years and on the causes and campaigns, for which I have fought, and not on an academic conversation with a journalist over dinner. I did not ever and would not approve of the finished article as it appeared."

I don't care what the Greeks used to do, and why they did it. It's still immoral and wrong, and this is a man who persecutes the whole entire Church, because of the extremely unfortunate "crisis", is now being a bloody hypocrite and saying men who have sex with boys is alright. Excuse me, but no, it's not.

Top 10 Traditional Catholic Wallpaper

Everyone Catholic likes a little bit of eye-candy for their computer wallpaper, especially ones which are of our favourite Pope, or Saint, Our Lord, or Our Blessed Mother. Here, I have compiled a list of the top ten!

In the Pope Benedict Category, we have this beauty.... from Liguori Press! Edit: The original one was from the website "Santa Banta", they removed it becuase I was "leeching". I have no idea what that means, and I am too bloody lazy to figure out ;)

A nice wallpaper of Our Lord, is this beautiful one from Miles Christi

A beautiful wallpaper with Our Blessed Mother on it, here is another, yes, another from Miles Christi

Now, this famous picture of St Joseph makes a beautiful wallpaper...

If you just love the Vatican, or want a reminder to pray for the Church, this is a beautiful wallpaper...

At St Peter's Cathedral, there is the famous statue of St Peter, of which thousands of pilgrims come to kiss his foot.

For a beautiful wallpaper of the Holy Sacrifice, the FSSP has done a wonderful job.

For church interior, most definitely you would have to choose Notre Dame Cathedral...

The best wallpaper of Blessed Pope John Paul II, would most definitely be that from St Anthony's Church, in Kurusady, India.

And last, but most definitely not least, is a the classic image of a prayer book or bible, with Rosary beads is this one from this blog, which I stumbled upon quite randomly...

And there you have it. My top 10! No one is going to fully agree, but please pick and choose. God Bless.

Please pray for England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland, and Newfoundland.
Please pray for the Successor of St Peter, the Vicar of Christ, Pope Benedict XVI.

Truth

How did the Church of England decide that contraception was not sinful?
How did the Church of Scotland decide that openly-gay and non-celibate gay men and women could be "ordained" as ministers?
How the the Anglican Church in Canada decide to bless and accept gay unions?
How did practically any Protestant church decide what is truth or not? A vote.

How does that Catholic Church decide truth? It's slowly revealed to us by God.

Attack on the Church

One of many.

It seems that any government will find any way to attack the Church, they don't care what, as long as it makes us mad. First, dear ol' Ireland's broken government wants to force Priests to break the seal of Confession. Now Australia! I didn't pay much mind to the demand in Ireland for Priests to break the Sacrament, because it is just too painful, but now Australia?

Say a Prayer for Ireland

Bless dear Ireland, o Lord, we pray.
Make her safe by night and day.
Bless her green, vast pleasant land
and her great Churches, for Thee they stand.

Bless her people, her glorious sea
that brought and made and gives history.
Keep them pure, away from sin
which the Devil tempts all, and their soul is thin.
Oh Blessed Lady, ever Virgin,
thou, who appeared in the green land of Ireland in Knock,
to Thee we fly and beg petition, for the Devil is
at Bay, for her faithful Priests and Bishops loyal to holy Mother Church.
Let not his snares run rampant, crush his head underneath Thy most immaculate foot.

St Joseph who with the Virgin appeared, protector of all holy virgins, pray for Ireland.
St John who also appeared with Our Lady and St Joseph, pray for Ireland.

Oh St Patrick, and St Bridgit, thou who walked upon Erin's fair land,
pray for her for the Devil is at attack upon the Church's good Priests.

Pray for the Priests, good, pious and righteous.
Pray for the children, that they may not be deceived.
Pray for her government, that it may stay true to the Church and to God.

O Priest of God

If the priest is a saint, his people will be holy.

If the priest is holy, his people will be good.

If the priest is good, his people will be fair.

If the priest is fair, his people will be mediocre.
If the priest is mediocre, his people will be bad.

A truly Catholic Prince, the Crown Prince of Austria, has died. Please, say a prayer for the repose of his soul. He was a faithful Catholic, and a good Monarch! He was a fierce defender of the one true Church!

I'm still alive

Hello! I went to spend some time with my family, on my Grandmother's side, though she's (hopefully) come to receive her eternal reward. And, me and the computer had a little fight, so that ended up with me having to put Linux back on ;) Anyhow, I am back.
