The May Altar

May is the month that we give to honouring the Blessed Virgin! This does not give excuses to wear blue vestments, or to dance around the church with a statue of Our Lady, nor does it give permission for any abuses a parish might make and use the month of May as an excuse. No way, no how. There are many traditions used to honour and ask for the intercession of the most holy Mother of God, the Theotokos. One of these such is the crowning of the statue of the Blessed Virgin. Also, setting up a May altar in your home as a private way to venerate and as the intercession of the Immaculate Conception. Here's a beautiful video explaining this wonderful tradition in Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales and Newfoundland.
