YAY! Maybe they can make abortion illegal altogether.

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, may
introduce an amendment today that would restrict abortion funding in the Senate
version of the health-care reform bill.
The Senate opens debate on the bill
today at 3. It could be over by Christmas, if Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid,
D-Nev., has his way. Politico.com, the Washington politics website, says that
Reid plans to conduct negotiations on the bill behind closed doors in order to
get the 60 votes he needs for passage—and then move to close debate.
One of
the main aspects of the bill that is keeping even some Democrats from supporting
it is the so-called “public option.”
Hatch’s amendment, though, according to
the Journal, focuses on abortion. It is expected to mirror the Stupak amendment
that narrowly passed the House Nov. 7. That amendment would restrict federal
funding of abortions except in the case of a threat to the mother’s life, or
pregnancy resulting from rape or incest.
